About Us
Hi there! Thanks for visiting our website. I’m Brooklyn—the one running around like a headless chicken at each event. So, how did I get here?
In 2018, I discovered the zero-waste movement, which inspired me to leave my job and create a business sewing reusable products. A few years later, I pivoted to selling vintage and secondhand clothing, keeping the same ethical values. Over the years I dabbled in markets like General Collective, Coatesville, Titirangi Village Market and The Collaborative but finally settled in as a founding stallholder and spent three years building a market family and second home at Central Flea in Auckland…
After having my first baby and moving to Taranaki in 2022, I saw a need for a market specifically focused on secondhand goods with a community focus. So, The Pickers Market was born, and it’s become my second baby. Bringing over five years of market experience from Auckland (and now 2+ years experience in Taranaki) I’ve combined everything I love about the events I’ve attended—indoor spaces, zero-waste practices, and a beautiful mix of secondhand and locally made goods.
You’ll find us at Ferndale Hall, off Frankley Road, on the last SUNDAY of every month with the odd pop-up event in between. As a fellow stallholder and tree-hugger, I make sure sustainability and community are at the heart of every event. You might even see me hauling crates of reusables or sorting waste (if I’m not chasing my toddler!).
None of this would be possible without the support of my family and the amazing Taranaki community. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to seeing you at the market!
